씨앗을 저장하라 /디모데후서 3:14-4:5

그러나 너는 배우고 확신한 일에 거하라 너는 네가 누구에게서 배운 것을 알며 또 어려서부터 성경을 알았나니 성경은 능히 너로 하여금 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 믿음으로 말미암아 구원에 이르는 지혜가 있게 하느니라-딤후 3:14-15

     어머니가 편찮으셨기 때문에 저희 남매들은 추수 후에 어머니의 채소밭을 치우는 일을 맡았습니다. 채소들을 제거할 때, 어머니는 우리에게 “씨앗을 저장해라!” 하고 말씀하셨습니다. 밭일을 열심히 하시는 어머니는 작은 씨앗 하나 속에 들어있는 독특한 희망에 대해서 잘 알고 있었습니다.
     어머니가 돌아가신 다음 해 봄에 우리는 씨앗을 발견했습니다. 그리고 어머니가 가르쳐주신 대로 씨앗을 뿌렸습니다. 우리는 씨앗을 땅에 심으며 함께 즐겁게 일했습니다. 그리고 결국 우리는 풍성하게 수확했습니다.
     식물의 생장기를 지켜본 후, 저는 어머니의 말씀 안에 있는 더 깊은 의미를 깨닫게 되었습니다. 우리는 믿음의 “씨앗을 저장하고” 하나님 사랑의 복음을 심어야 합니다. 하나님의 말씀을 세상에 전해서 다른 사람들이 구원을 얻도록 하는 것이 우리의 책임입니다. 우리 남매는 아마 다음 해 어머니의 정원에 씨를 뿌리지는 않겠지만, 우리 각 사람은 작은 믿음의 씨앗이라도 계속 뿌릴 것입니다. 어머니의 정원을 가꾸면서 저도 저의 정원을 찾았습니다. 매일 매일이 씨를 뿌리기에 좋은 날입니다.

기도 하나님, 그리스도의 사랑의 본을 보여주는 사람들이 전해주는 믿음의 선물을 감사드립니다. 우리가 계속해서 세상에 믿음의 씨앗을 뿌리도록 힘을 주십시오. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

Save the Seeds/ Read 2 Timothy 3:144:5

You know who your teachers were, and you remember that ever since you were a child, you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.- 2 Timothy 3:14-15 (TEV)

     Due to my mother's ill health, my siblings and I were responsible for clearing her vegetable garden after the harvest. As we cleared away the plants, she instructed us, "Save the seeds!" An avid gardener, she knew the unique hope in each tiny seed.
     In the spring after she died, we discovered the seeds. As she had taught us, we planted the garden. We worked together joyfully, placing each seed into the soil and eventually we shared a bountiful harvest.
     By the end of another growing season, I came to realize a deeper meaning in my mother’s words. We are to “save the seeds” of our faith and plant the good news of God's love. Our responsibility is to carry the word of God into the world so that others may be saved. We may not plant her garden again next spring, but each of us will continue to plant tiny seeds of faith. In tending her garden, I have found my own. Every day is a good day to plant seeds.

Thank you, God, for the gift of faith from those who exemplify the love of Christ. Give us the strength to continue to plant seeds of faith in the world. Amen.
